So Summer is officially over…the sun has gone in and the evenings are getting darker by the day. But don’t worry – it’s not all doom and gloom! We are here to bring you 7 of the best ways to get out and have fun with your kids this Autumn!

  1. Visit the local pumpkin patch!

Pumpkins and all things Halloween have been a more American tradition until recent years but we are most definitely catching up with the trend…there are pumpkin patches popping up all over the place and they are a wonderful day out with the kids to pick your very own pumpkin! Just make sure you take your wellies as you are sure to need them!

  1. Get the whole family involved in the Halloween fun!

The kids will love you forever for going that extra mile! Halloween is a big deal to little kids so you will earn endless cool-points for jumping on the bandwagon and getting dressed up with them! Make sure you grab the opportunity to get involved whilst they’re young enough to think it’s cool….because that stage definitely won’t last forever!

  1. Late Season Gardening

Gardening with the kids is always an interesting activity! Weeding is boring, but making a muddy mess…yep that’s cool! Fortunately as we enter growing season, now is the perfect time to get them involved in digging up the carrots and pulling the corn! There is nothing quite like tucking into some home grown vegetables straight from the garden!

  1. Take a family fishing trip!

Fishing as a family is so much fun.  And late summer/autumn fishing is the best!  The fish are active, the scenery is beautiful and you don’t have to worry about sunburns

  1. Garden work

Kids love to play at being adults….so get them their own pair of garden gloves and send them off with a task to help you out! Little ones especially love to get out, explore and get a bit dirty…make the most of their ‘help’ whilst they are happy to give it. For the older kids, try giving them a treasure list of things they need to find in the garden…it’ll keep them busy whilst you get on with the grown-up jobs!

  1. Take a family bike ride

Getting out on the bikes as a family is a great way to spend a day! Fresh air, adventuring, lots of physical activity…what’s not to like? And kids love it…getting them out won’t be a problem – but getting them home might be!

  1. Jumping Year Round

Jumping on your Springfree is an all-year-round activity…but Autumn is such a great time to make the most of it! The days are cooler giving you perfect conditions for jumping for longer! And as the evenings draw in…it is the PERFECT afterschool activity in the privacy of your own private playground (aka the garden!)

And don’t worry about the falling leaves, get the kids to bounce or sweep them out as part of a game – points for the one who can bounce the most out!

Autumn is the perfect time to get out and get active. We know that balancing kids in school and extra-curricular activities can be hectic at times – but make sure to take those moments of fun when you can!
